Yours is a valuable resource for specifics when we do!! We did white water rafting and enjoyed it so much. Traveling the canopy would be just wonderful!! On which river did you raft when you were here the first time? We are traveling with a party of six to Costa Rica staying at the Riu Resort….

Looking to go zip lining someplace close to our resort one of the gentleman in our party is over pounds 6 foot four wondering if anyone can make any suggestions where we could zip line. Kelly — Sounds good! Both tours take place near the RIU resorts. As for whether the gentleman in your party will be allowed to participate in either tour, it would be best to reach out to the canopy tour providers directly to have them confirm this. Thanks for sharing. Ziplining is so much fun.

I am always looking for new adventures and places to go ziplining. I will have to try these out. Caleb — We agree; zip-lining is a blast! Hope to see you in Costa Rica one day to try out some of these ziplines for yourself. We love your blog! We are going to Costa Rica in January and it is the best informational blog we have seen about Costa Rica! Thank you! We have a question regarding ziplining. We are wondering about another ziplining company that is not listed on your blog.

It is located in Puntarenas. How do you compare it to the ones you have listed on your blog? Rakhee Patel — Thank you so much for your comment and your very kind compliment!

We are happy to know that our blog has assisted you in planning your January trip to Costa Rica. Hotel Earth — FriendFeed — Thank you for the comment! I think I need to work on getting over my fear of heights first, though. I was in Costa Rica two years ago and of course I took the opportunity to go on a canopy tour Selvatura specifically.

It was one of the best experiences in my life: Me, that I get so much vertigo, I did it! The act of zip-lining is thrilling, terrifying, exhilarating, and rewarding all at the same time. Overall, wonderful, informative blog you have on Costa Rica. I visited Costa Rica for a week in the summer of I did the canopy tour however I cannot recall the name of the company.

I had such a fun time, and I remember the leather glove handbrake too. Blessings, Lori. Lori Smith, M. We are glad to hear that you had such a great trip a few years ago. We are happy to have found your site, Graceful Learning , for the richness it provides. Great writing! Thank you so much, Pura vida! Blessings for your continued writing, energy and presence you radiate about Costa Rica.

Actually when you see the pictures make you want to travel to Costa Rica, and is quite right when you say: There for all, and for all the tastes of tourists. Great question! The braking system used by Sky Adventures requires zipliners to reduce their speed by jostling a set of handlebars from side to side. In contrast, the regular hand-braking system, which is used by the majority of canopy tour operators in Costa Rica, requires zipliners to wear a thick usually leather glove during the tour and reduce their speed by applying pressure to the zip-line cable.

My favorite is Selvatura because you get the option to go on the hanging bridges before or after your tour. Plus, they have that really cool bug museum on the grounds, which is is definitely worth a visit. The only drawback in my mind is the hand braking system many of the ziplines use, which is simply a thick leather glove that you hold down on the line to slow you down.

Small drawback — very fun experience overall. As a sad update, the insect museum is no longer available at the Selvatura Park. Your email address will not be published. Toggle Navigation.
