Why ramson and linda mumba divorce

Let us consider what Paul the Apostle who, after all, should know! The Scriptures foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you. But - wait - are we told what form this Abrahamic 'blessing' will take? This is important to pin down because El Shaddai and an army of prosperity teachers say this means that Christians today should be healthy and wealthy.

Let us continue with our text, to ensure that we fully understand about this 'blessing of Abraham':. It is clear that 'the blessing of Abraham' - which Christians have inherited - concerns their standing under the grace of God, without benefit of the Old Covenant: it is a spiritual matter unconcerned - I repeat: unconcerned - with financial prosperity.

So we see that the great patriarch Abraham was not deemed to stand under any law: his faith, a divinely-granted faith, being deemed sufficient for him to stand in a gracious relationship with the Lord; in this sense, Abraham stood in a place which - since the sacrifice and resurrection of our Lord - is now occupied by every Christian.

Abraham tasted the joy of the New Covenant ahead of time. Through faith alone, he stood under God's grace. So this whole matter is a spiritual matter concerning the areas of law, faith and grace: financial prosperity and health are nothing to do with the 'blessing of Abraham' whatsoever.

Now it is true that Abraham was wealthy by the standards of his day, not by modern standards; we are only speaking of a few herds of animals here!

But probably every single Bible commentator of note of the last two hundred years has not considered that material prosperity has any connection whatsoever with 'the blessing of Abraham' - those blessings concern faith, grace and the Lord Jesus Christ: They are spiritual blessings! An interesting secondary issue here is that Paul's central point is that Christian believers today do not stand under any aspect of the Old Covenant - yet tithing is quickly pulled out of that obsolete covenant and taught to every single prosperity church member, including members of 'El Shaddai' - and these sincere but naive people are taught that they are being unfaithful if they do not tithe regularly!

So we see that a failure to correctly understand the New Covenant and a willingness to simply repeatedly use the term "covenant" in a most vague and broad manner is a most serious theological failure indeed. Our Purpose is to make God's name great. The Motivation to all that we do is Love. Regarding the first point, this sounds very nice but countless sects and cults would probably say the same.

With regard to the second point, again we find amazing vagueness, and what is meant by "anointing"? One feels that this probably refers to the strange and weird extremist-charismatic sense of 'anointing' which numerous evangelicals would consider spirit-involvement , rather than the biblical sense. Finally, point four is very worrying because it is only the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ definable in several places including Acts ; Romans 4: ; Romans ; 1 Corinthians 2: and 1 Corinthians , which has been delivered to the Church and only that message forms the subject of the Great Commission.

In contrast and in common with much of charismania , El Shaddai obviously, from their own 'vision' comments, has a different message, interestingly this plainly includes a financial dimension - which has no place within the biblically-definable gospel.

We have not taken sides in their marriage, and are completely for Dr Mumba and Pastor Linda. However Dr Mumba's inability to see that this decision has wider implications than on a simply personal level is of great concern. Dr Mumba has often preached that the home is our first church, and how we are at home is the true barometer of the authenticity of our Christianity.

Dr Mumba believes that his separation with Linda is a personal issue, completely separate to his function. He believes that we should be able to separate it from his ability to lead. However we feel that this issue does impact on his ability to lead, affecting and taking away from his credibility and integrity. We believe it is his marriage relationship that will release an aspect of the fullness of his call. Surely the charge to all husbands from Ephesians 5: v. Surely the charge to all of us is to die to self so that Christ may live in us Phil 1: v.

Surely the charge is that as we die to flesh and to the natural man, then Christ can resurrect and live in us again in greater measure. Surely the instruction of the word is that the outer man must perish, so that the inner man can be renewed day by day 2 Corinthians 4: v. Sadly, his unwillingness or inability to grasp the magnitude, we believe has allowed a deception to enter in, which itself has opened the door to many other things such as strife, confusion, contention and the undercurrent of dis-peace currently being felt by all.

Our desire for him to take some time for reflection and healing came from a heart of genuine love and concern for him, as our friend and Pastor, to preserve the gift and grace of God over his life. We believe it would have been more honourable if Dr Mumba had allowed the Pastors to choose for themselves to stand with him and support him, to decide for themselves if they felt to go along with his decision and how to support it.

Instead he insisted that every person over-ride their own consciences, and back him in making and handling the announcement. In effect he forced Pastors to suppress our own personal convictions in order to support him. He demanded loyalty even when he was clearly wrong. This bred a mistrust and caused relationships between Dr Mumba and some of the Pastors to deteriorate and became less relational and more by force; more by the letter as opposed to the spirit.

Whilst praying we have been led to study the life of King Saul in 1 Samuel On examination, one can see 19 characteristics which developed in Saul's life as a result of his going against the word of God, and as a result caused much wrong. These are: 1. Religious when wants to impress people.

Takes matters into his own hands i. It is truly saddening to have observed each one of these characteristics over the last months at ESICC. Dr Mumba's treatment of Pastor Linda and various other key members of the ministry While not judging or taking sides during the separation, this has caused us concerns.

We believe that love covers. This had never occurred before in all our time as ESICC Pastors, and in our view marked a fundamental shift in the emphasis Dr Mumba placed on people in this case the leaders. Concerning other key members of the ministry, we have been saddened to see Dr Mumba use opportunistic incidents to sideline and remove any person who has challenged him or doesn't agree with him or his actions.

In particular, was the handling of Mr Tunde Disu which we strongly disagreed with, and the attempt to try to blame the ministries financial situation on him. We no longer feel secure in his treatment of people and as such, the leading of our lives.
